Long term opportunity
Work in the ancient cities of Braga and Porto. Braga has been described at the "Rome of Portugal". The city has many Catholic churches with few teenagers and children who attend. A whole generation is growing up with no understanding of who Jesus is and how much God loves them. Less than 2% of the population goes to an Evangelical church.
You can be part of what God is doing to change this. Work with established missionaries who need help with their ministry and outreach to the youth and children of northern Portugal. This involves sports programs, adventure activities (skiing, rock climbing, canoeing) as well as VBS, drama, music and art to reach the young generation for Christ.

Please remember that you will be traveling in a foreign country. Things do not always go as we plan. Flights get delayed, immigration doesn't go as smoothly as we hope, busses are late, the orphanage you wanted to visit may not be taking visitors the day you are available. The best way to handle this is to be flexible.
Keep in mind that you are there to serve the missionaries and assist them in their ministry. Allow God to work through you, not for you. In the end, you will have a greater experience than you could ever imagine.
