Mobile Packaging

So what is a mobile packaging?
With a mobile packaging, we take our Food For Children packaging process on the road.  We can bring all of the equipment and materials needed to package the food to your school, church or other large building and ship it directly from there.

How much food can we package?
Although it can vary, our goal is to package at least one shipping container during a mobile packaging.  A shipping container can hold 1,000 boxes containing a total of 216,000 meals.  If your group is interested in packaging more or less food, contact Heaven Sent Ministries.

How does it work?
Depending on the size of the facility, we can set up 4 or 5 "lines" of 15 people each to package food.  Each person has a specific job - pour in the ingredients, weigh the bags, seal them, box them up and then stack them on a pallet.

Each group is scheduled for a 2 hour block of time.  The session starts with a 30 minute orientation and then the group packages for 90 minutes.

How much food can one group package?
We estimate that a group of 15 will generally package 15 boxes of food during a 90 minute session.  Some will do more, some will do less.  It averages out to one box per person.

How do we pay for this?
There are a variety of ways to pay for your packaging.  You can require each participant to pay $60.  Your church can take a love offering to pay for the food that those involved in the packaging will package.  You can have a fund raiser at your church to pay for the food.

Since we have to order ingredients ahead of time, it is very important that we have a financial commitment from the group sponsoring the mobile packaging.

What type of facility is needed?
A gymnasium, large sanctuary or fellowship hall all work very well for a mobile packaging.  Any large room big enough to set up 4 - 5 packaging tables.
We will have to ship some of the ingredients to the location, so a place to store the material prior to the packaging is needed.  It is better if a loading dock is on sight, but not imperative.
We will need a separate room to have our orientation meeting for each group.

Where does the food go?
We have a long list of missionaries that we work with who have asked for food.  In general, it may go to Ghana, Dominican Republic, Tajikistan, Israel, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Sudan, Kenya, India or a number of other countries where we have missionary partners.

How is the food distributed?
As stated above, we work with missionaries in several countries.  They target a people group who is in need of this nutritious food and contact us.  Our only requirements are that the food be given freely, and that it be sent in the name of Jesus.  We have heard amazing stories of people being saved not only physically, but spiritually as well through the contacts made by providing food.
