Haiti Earthquake Relief

Residents sleep in the streets of Port-Au-Prince on Wednesday, January 13, after a devastating earthquake hit Haiti's capital.  It has been estimated that 3 million people may have been affected by the disaster.

Haiti Update 01/29/10:

Tremendous thanks to our incredible volunteers and donors!   As you can imagine, things are changing day by day in Haiti.  One thing that has stayed constant is the help we have received from volunteers.  Our initial plan was to send two separate 20 foot containers to Haiti, but because of the response we've had, we are now able to make our first shipment on a 40 foot container.  That is over 285,000 meals! We are immediately beginning work on a second container! So - we will continue to need volunteers and donations.

Because of changes made at Missionary Flights International, we will not be able to send our food through them.  Through God's grace and lots of hard work by our friends at Viva Kids, we will now be working with an organization called Food for the Poor.  On February 9, they will be picking up our food in West Virginia and putting it on a ship to Haiti.  They estimate that it will take 7-10 days for the ship to arrive.  They will then hand out the food to various Christian organizations and missionaries who need the food.  It is still our plan to have several of our staff on sight to help distribute the food.

Thank you for the amazing response, and please continue to give and help.  We have seen God do amazing things already, and we trust Him to continue to do so.

What is HSM doing to help?
HSM is committed to send several containers of food to the people of Haiti.

How can I help?

Sponsor a box of food.
The most difficult part of this project will be to raise the funds to pay for food ingredients.  We are encouraging youth groups, Sunday school classes, Bible study groups, businesses, civic groups, churches - anybody who is interested - to raise money to pay for the food.  No amount is too small.  The more food we can pay for, the more we can send.

If you can help financially, please write a check payable to Heaven Sent Ministries and note Haiti Food on the memo line of your check.

You can also donate online using E-Giving by clicking on the logo below.

Help package the food at our Princeton, WV warehouse.
We need volunteers to package the food. You can work together with other volunteers to assemble the food ingredients into usable packages.

Sign up to work for a specific two-hour time slot by calling HSM at (304) 425-7120.
