Work among the most vulnerable people in the third poorest country in the world—Burkina Faso. Village widows and orphans are the forgotten ones. They have no voice and no means of support. They are considered outcasts due to the fear of AIDS. Widows have no opportunity for education and therefore have no hope of gaining the skills necessary to support a family. With no financial means, no education, no one to help they are hopelessly caught in a cycle of poverty, sickness and ignorance.
At 14.4%, Burkina Faso has the lowest literacy rate in the world.
Help provide a way out for widows and orphans through programs designed to make broken people whole.

2. Water, hygiene and sanitation and HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
3. Human rights for women and children and evangelism
4. Feeding program and orphanage
Long term opportunity Teach for up to 9 months in Burkina Faso (BF). This country is in West Africa, north of Ghana. BF is the third poorest country in the world. There is a tremendous need to educate the children. The literacy rate is 14.4%, the lowest in the world. There are many adults, (especially women) who are unable to find work due to the fact they can not read and write. Play your part and enable the next generation to be literate.

Please remember that you will be traveling in a foreign country. Things do not always go as we plan. Flights get delayed, immigration doesn't go as smoothly as we hope, busses are late, the orphanage you wanted to visit may not be taking visitors the day you are available. The best way to handle this is to be flexible.
Keep in mind that you are there to serve the missionaries and assist them in their ministry. Allow God to work through you, not for you. In the end, you will have a greater experience than you could ever imagine.
